30 Sep 2008 - September Newsletter 2
Dear Parents
I have been very impressed by how quickly everyone has settled into their new classes. The new entrants in Badger and Owl class have all been staying for lunch and the youngest children start full-time on Thursday.
It is lovely to see everyone enjoying school and I am always proud to share achievements when individuals bring work to my office, on visits to the classrooms and through the Golden Book Assemblies on Friday afternoons.
After school clubs were very popular last week. This term they are open to Year 1 and Year 2 children. If your child returned the form but did not get a place this time they have been put onto the waiting list for next half-term.
As the weather gets cooler please ensure your child brings a coat to school. All clothing must be named so that lost items can be reunited with their owners. Please make sure your child has named p.e. kit and plimsolls or trainers at school at all times. If you have any good condition but outgrown trainers, plimsolls or wellington boots please donate them to school. The days are getting shorter and visibility is always important. A leaflet advertising high visibility vests is accompanying this letter.
During the year we like to support worthwhile causes and teach the children about others less fortunate than us. On Friday this week we will be asking the children (and staff) to bring a donation and come to school in their jeans in support of Jeans for Genes Day.
Overleaf is a list of dates for the term, together with dates for INSET closures. These are days when the school is closed for pupils to allow for whole staff training. These dates have been agreed with
The INSET closure dates are:

Accompanying this letter is an updated school term dates for 2008/9 and 2009/10.
Finally can I remind you that school starts at
. Classroom doors are opened from 8.40 to allow for a smooth start to the day. Children need to be in the classrooms at
for registration. It is important that even at this early age children are on time as habits are set which become difficult to break. I would also like to remind you that if your child is absent from school we require a phone call on the day or a letter on their return. Registers are externally checked each term and persistent absence or lateness will be investigated.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Diane Toyne
